I have known and worked with Isaac Waxtein/ Blue Label Construction for the past fifteen years. Initially I hired Isaac to extensively remodel a home I had purchased in Santa Monica. Coincidentally that home was originally built by Isaac ten years prior to my purchase…. At the time I was living on the East Coast and trust and good communication were essential as I mostly monitored the project progress from afar. I was consistently impressed by Isaac’s excellent communication skills and willingness to take my calls anytime to answer questions and discuss any issues that inevitably arose along the way. Isaac proved to be a builder’s builder, his technical skills and ability to skillfully manage the numerous subcontractors involved proved outstanding. In addition Isaac was always transparent, fair and honest when it came to billing. Most importantly the quality of the work performed and the end product exceeded my high expectations! I also need to mention that in the ensuing years every time I had a non trivial issue at the house ( water damage etc..) I was always able to rely on Isaac to assist which I found invaluable. In summary and based on my personal experience I can highly recommend Isaac Waxtein / Blue Label Construction to anyone looking for a topnotch builder of luxury homes on the Westside of Los Angeles.
After graduating from USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, Isaac began his career with a commercial construction firm. A few years in, he realized the commercial sector wasn’t the right fit and, in 1989, launched his own residential construction company, Waxtein Development. The company was soon rebranded as Santa Monica Development and, in 2010, became what is now Blue Label Construction. Over the course of his career, Isaac has built more than 250 homes, primarily in Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, and Brentwood, with additional projects completed in Bel Air, Cheviot Hills, Little Holmby, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Kauai, and Cabo San Lucas. He remains deeply involved in the day-to-day operations and is hands-on with the construction details of every project. His background in engineering provides a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of how homes are built. Isaac moved to Pacific Palisades in 1994 and has called it home ever since. In his rare free time, he enjoys fishing and spending time with his family and three grandchildren.
Bernardo moved to Pacific Palisades at the age of three and attended Corpus Christi School. After earning his degree in Economics from Santa Clara University, he began working directly under his father at Blue Label Construction. As the company’s lead project manager, Bernardo plays a critical role in ensuring each project runs smoothly and efficiently, providing continuity by overseeing and prioritizing crews across all phases of the build. He also handles all project estimating and personally signs every subcontract. His deep knowledge of construction details and procedures enables him to make budget-conscious decisions and apply value engineering across every aspect of the project. Bernardo is married to a Palisades High School graduate; they live in Mar Vista with their three children.
Emma Cali is a multidisciplinary designer with roots in high fashion and elevated residential interiors. Born and raised in Malibu, she grew up immersed in the distinct character of L.A.’s Westside and has an innate understanding of the lifestyle, architecture, and laid-back luxury that defines the area. Now based in Malibu with her own family, she’s deeply passionate about helping shape and rebuild the next generation of homes in the Pacific Palisades and surrounding communities. Emma spent a decade as a fashion stylist and creative director before transitioning into interior design - bringing with her a refined aesthetic, editorial eye, and a natural talent for storytelling through space. Over the past several years, she has led full-scale renovations and ground-up builds, guiding clients through every phase - from architectural planning to finish selection and styling. Her signature approach blends California comfort with timeless European influence, creating warm, soulful spaces that feel effortlessly lived-in. She believes a home should feel collected, not decorated and as if it’s always belonged.
Domenic joined Blue Label Construction shortly after graduating college and has quickly established himself as a valuable member of the team. He manages project inspections with the City, ensuring every build complies with code and approved plans. Domenic also oversees the distribution of designs and specifications to subcontractors, making certain that construction is executed with accuracy and consistency.
With more than 25 years at Blue Label Construction, Gerardo serves as the company’s Senior Superintendent and is a cornerstone of our field operations. Beginning his career as a framer, he brings unmatched hands-on expertise and problem-solving ability, addressing challenges efficiently on-site. Gerardo ensures each home is constructed to the highest standards, with every detail and specification executed to perfection.
Sylvia is essential to the seamless operation of Blue Label Construction. She oversees project administration, managing documentation, purchase orders, and workflow to ensure that information is accurately organized and delivered to the teams who need it. Her diligence supports efficiency across every stage of construction. Beyond project completion, Sylvia continues to assist clients with service and maintenance, building long-lasting relationships and trust that extend well after delivery.
